Why do you need Trigger?
Trigger is a smart app that makes it easy to quickly access a network of private emergency services – when you need them. Trigger can be activated via the app, which is downloaded on your phone as well as through a standalone panic button to summon armed response and other emergency services.

How does Trigger work?
Download the Trigger app on the Apple iStore or Google Play Store , Register and subscribe to access Emergency services such as Armed response, paramedics, roadside assistance, legal advice, trauma counselling, SAVE247 saving coupons or open water emergency rescue.
Trigger opt – in live location functionalities; family location sharing, geo fences & emergency contact alerts are free to use on the app.
In the app, select the service you need and simply push the button. For armed response, a signal is relayed to the nearest armed response vehicle that carries our smart on-board Trigger device, and that vehicle is dispatched to your location. Alternatively, our operations centre will call you to assist you in accessing our other services.
Do you need a smartphone to use Trigger?
Yes, you will require a smartphone that has a GPS location service in-built into the device. Trigger is currently unavailable on feature phones.
What is included in your monthly subscription?
There are a number of different plans available from entry level to all the bells and whistles, and from individual memberships to a plan with additional members. Click here to view the Trigger Subscriber Plans.
Can you cancel your monthly subscription at any time?
We will be sorry to see you go, but yes, you can cancel your subscription, which runs on a month-to-month basis at any time via your app store.
How do you cancel your subscription?
Should you wish to cancel your subscription, you can do so From your relevant App store. Please follow these steps to cancel your subscription:

Do you need to have your location turned on, on your phone, for Trigger to work?
Yes, your location service on your smartphone must be switched on when you place a request for any armed response request, medical emergency service, or roadside assistance – that way the team will be able to accurately locate you and get to you as fast as possible.
Can we still help you if you don’t share your location?
Yes, we will still get your request for help and our agents will make contact. They will still be able to send someone to your location if you are able to confirm with them where you are when they call you. You must have your location setting switched on.
Do you need to have airtime or data on your phone to use Trigger?
You will need airtime & data to be able to have your location services on your phone connected, so that our team knows where to find you.
Who will we send to help you in the event of an emergency?
We are connected to thousands of reputable emergency response vehicles from leading security and emergency medical service providers. The team sent to your location, will arrive in clearly marked vehicles and will match the detail shared with you when help is dispatched.
Where in South Africa is Trigger available?
We currently have armed response services available in all major metropolitan areas and a number of large towns in South Africa. To see whether your current location is covered, view our coverage map here.
If you require armed response assistance outside of Trigger’s current coverage area, we will still, however, be able to request police and law enforcement and direct them to your location.
Medical emergencies are available nationally throughout South Africa, on an access only and user to pay basis. Roadside assistance is a national service. Please review the T&C’s to see what you are covered for.

How do you activate armed response in an emergency?
Open your Trigger app on your phone and press the Armed Response icon. Or, activate your standalone Trigger Panic Device. Our armed response service will send an armed response vehicle directly to the location shown by your phone, or panic button, via its GPS, when you press this icon.
Upon activation, our call centre will call you to ascertain what your emergency is. Whether or not you answer the phone we will still send the responder to you. Should you be in a position or situation where you are not able to take the call or are in an unsafe area, you do not need to answer – the responders will still come to you.
You will be able to see on your Trigger App how long it will take for them to arrive at your location. This service is only applicable when activated in one of our currently covered locations.
How many armed response call-outs are included in your Trigger Plan?
Trigger operates on a fair usage basis and allows you to have four (4) standard response call-outs for security/armed response per annum (from the day your subscription is paid and runs). Please refer to the terms and conditions for further information and additional costs.
How do you call a paramedic/medical emergency service on Trigger?
Open your Trigger app on your phone and click on the Medical Emergency icon. Or, activate your standalone Trigger Panic Button the same way you request the Armed Response service. When the armed responder arrives, they will request the relevant medical emergency services for you. When you activate this service and you have your phone with you, you will reach the call centre and they will route your call to the private medical emergency service provider who will ascertain what your medical emergency is.
This will enable them to decide which service needs to be dispatched to you. The call centre will also have your location, in order to be able to accurately send the service to your location.
Please read the private medical emergency service provider document to ensure you understand how the service works and what you are covered for. This is a national service and is an access only service on a user to pay basis – When you have a private medical aid, your medical aid will cover your costs.
If you don’t have a medical aid, please note that you will be personally liable for all related costs.

How do you get roadside assistance with Trigger?
Open your Trigger app on your phone and click on the Roadside Assistance icon. When you activate this icon, the call centre will contact you immediately to ascertain what your roadside emergency is.
This will enable them to decide which service needs to be dispatched to you. The call centre will also have your location, in order to accurately send the service to your location.
In the event you are not on the scene or perhaps used another towing company after having logged your initial assistance with the Trigger service provider, the tow costs will be for your account. Similarly, if you cancel the towing services later than 15min from the initial call, you will be billed a late cancellation cost.

What is included in the Trigger Roadside Assistance plan?
Included in the Trigger roadside assistance service are the following items, all services are payable by the subscriber. Please refer to the terms and conditions for a full list of services and their charges.

- Fuel delivery for those times you run empty
- Mechanical and electrical breakdown assistance
- Accident Towing
- Transmission of urgent messages
How does the 24/7 Lawyer-on-Demand Service Work?
Open your Trigger app on your phone and click on the 24/7 Lawyer-on-Demand icon. When you activate this service, the App will automatically display the number for you to call. The My Lawyer call centre will assist you with your legal matter.

How do you use the Trauma and Suicide Counselling Line Service?
Open your Trigger app on your phone and click on the Trauma and Suicide Counselling icon.
When you activate this service, the App will automatically display the number for you to call. The Trauma line will then offer you their counselling services. A 24-Hour trauma counselling line is available in the event of any traumatic event such as hijacking, burglary, motor accident, the loss of a loved one, school bullying, suicide, diagnosis of a chronic or life-threatening medical condition for example.
An uninterrupted, confidential, and professional telephonic counselling facility is available to customers every day of the year. Should the counsellor determine a need for additional face-to-face counselling, the member will be directed to an appropriate trauma counselling centre.
This is a National service.
How do you use the NSRI feature, what does it cover and where?
Open your Trigger app on your phone and click on the NSRI icon.
The NSRI open water rescue service will cover you on most rivers, sea and major dams across 7 provinces.
How do you use the Trigger Locateme function
Track your loved ones by adding them to your tracking group in the Trigger app. Group members’ live locations are visible in the Trigger Locateme feature.
Please note, for the Locateme functionalities to work as intended, do not exit or log out of your Trigger App, simply close the app window when exiting.
How to create a family/friend live location group
Go to the Locateme home page in the Trigger app. Click on the select group icon, create/name and save your family/friend group name.
How do you add members to your Trigger location group?
Click on the Locateme icon, share your family/friend group invitation via Whatsapp or preferred communication.
It is required that tracking group members have the Trigger app on their mobile phones and have registered Profiles.
Tracking group members join your group via the group code from the Locateme home page by selecting group, join group and entering the group code.
Locateme members must have the Trigger app installed, registered their profile & join your group via the code to make use of this functionality.
How do you use the Trigger Geo Spots function
As part of the Trigger Locateme functionality, Add Geo Spots/geo fences on your Trigger App for your tracking group members. Get notified when loved ones arrive or leave saved Geo spot locations.
Members must have the Trigger app installed, registered their profile & joined your family/friend group to make use of this functionality.
How do you use the Trigger Emergency contacts function
Add your Emergency contacts to your Trigger App on your profile page. Emergency contacts are notified via in app notifications & SMS when you activate your panic alert, should they be subscribed to a paid plan they will have the option to send emergency services via the Trigger App depending on their subscription.
Emergency contacts must have the Trigger app installed, registered their profile & accepted your emergency contact request to make use of this functionality.
How do you use the Trigger – SAVE247 Discount coupons?
Step 1: Register for the SAVE247 Service by sending your ID number with your profile information to info@trigger.co.za – it takes 48hrs to register your ID.
Step 2: Log in to SAVE247, by selecting the icon in the Trigger App
Step 3: enter the ID you registered with.
Step 4: Select the store you want to shop at
Step 5: Choose the discount coupons you want to add to your cart
Step 6:Checkout your cart and retrieve the coupon.
How does the Trigger Panic Device work?
This device (which is sold separately) pairs with the subscribed Trigger App’s Armed response service on your phone but can operate without your phone being nearby.
When you go for a run, walk or a cycle for example, you can just take the Trigger Panic button with you – you do not need to take your phone.
Please read the full instructions when you receive your device – as they will guide you on how to operate it.
The device has a panic button, which, when it is activated, will prompt our call centre to call you and whether or not you answer, we will dispatch the nearest armed response vehicle directly to the location noted via the device’s GPS (please ensure your location services are switched on, on your phone).
What if you lose your Trigger panic device?
If you lose your remote panic device, please report it to our operations centre via the info@trigger.co.za email address, stating that you have lost your device. Please state your full name and the device ID (located on the back of the device) in the email subject line. We will then cancel the device, but only once we have verified that you are indeed the owner of the device. You will have to purchase a new device from the Trigger website. www.trigger.co.za
What if someone else picks up your Smart Trigger panic device and presses the button?
If someone, other than the owner of the device, triggers a service on the app or the device, that service is still instantly dispatched. On arriving at the scene, a series of verifying checks will be performed to determine whether the owner of the device activated the service or someone else and whether or not there is an actual emergency. For devices that were not reported as missing or stolen, an additional call out fee may be levied.
Can you sign up your business to Trigger?
Yes, you can create a corporate account for your business that can include your executives or key personnel. Please make contact via our info@trigger.co.za email for our operations centre to get in touch with you, so that one of our friendly agents can discuss your needs.
